What travel time is paid time?
If you go from home to one worksite every day, the answer is simple: your travel time, or commuting time, is your own time and not compensable under the wage and hour laws.
If you move from place to place during the day, however, that travel time is considered working time. This means you should be paid for it, and it should count toward your total hours for overtime purposes. Also, if you are required to do substantial work from home before going to the job, or after returning home, your commuting time may be considered working time.
