Wage Act Violation: Simple Non Payment of Wages
Louis worked part time as an instructor in an adult education program.  Though this was part time and a second job for him, it was still an important part of his income.

His employer was chronically late with payments, a situation that only got worse over time.  Louis frequently requested payment and tried to resolve the situation, without any meaningful response. 

For a long time he believed that there was no point in getting a lawyer, because the amount of money at issue was not large.  However, it was enough money to make a difference in his ability to meet his day to day and week to week expenses


Wage Act Solution

When Louis came to us, he was not aware that the Wage Act provides for payment of an employee's legal fees, even if the amount at issue is not large.

​We filed a claim under the Massachusetts Wage Act, and were quickly able to get Louis the money he was owed, as well as payment for his costs and attorneys' fees.

Postscript

If you are owed wages, even if you think the amount is not large, remember that the Massachusetts Wage Act and minimum wage laws are there for your protection, and require the employer to pay your attorneys if you succeed on a claim under the Wage Act.
